Prof. Alber is Chairman of the firm. He was Vice-President of the European Parliament and Advocate General at the European Court of Justice. Before that, he was a Member of the German Parliament, a Member of the European Parliament and as such participated in numerous committees in the European Parliament. In particular Prof. Alber was a Member and the Chairman of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Citizens’ Rights as well as Vice-Chairman of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection. He was further Chairman of the delegation responsible for relations with the Baltic States and of the Subcommittees on Data Protection and on Poisonous or Dangerous Substances. In addition, he was Vice-Chairman of the Delegation for relations with the Gulf States.

Prof. Alber holds numerous high decorations of different states. He is Officer of the French Legion of Honor, holds the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Great Cross of Merit with Star and shoulder ribbon of Luxembourg, the Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold for Services to the Republic of Austria and the Order of Merit of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Prof. Alber is an Honorary Professor at the European Institute of the University of Saarland.Prof. Alber ist Chairman der Kanzlei. Er war zuletzt Vizepräsident des Europäischen Parlaments und Generalanwalt am Europäischen Gerichtshof. Zuvor war er Mitglied des Deutschen Bundestages, Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments und Mitglied zahlreicher parlamentarischer Ausschüsse. Insbesondere war Prof. Alber Mitglied und Vorsitzender des Ausschusses für Recht und Bürgerrechte sowie Stellvertretender Vorsitzender des Ausschusses für Umweltfragen, Volksgesundheit und Verbraucherschutz. Er war ferner Vorsitzender der Delegation für die Beziehungen zu den baltischen Staaten und der Unterausschüsse für Datenschutz sowie für giftige und gefährliche Stoffe. Darüber hinaus war er Stellvertretender Vorsitzender der Delegation für die Beziehungen mit den Golfstaaten.

Zudem ist Prof. Alber Träger zahlreicher hoher Auszeichnungen verschiedener Staaten. So ist er Offizier der französischen Ehrenlegion sowie Träger des Großen Verdienstkreuzes des Verdienstordens der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, des Großen Kreuzes mit Stern und Schulterband des luxemburgischen Verdienstordens, des Großen Goldenen Ehrenzeichens der Republik Österreich sowie der Verdienstmedaille des Landes Baden-Württemberg. Prof. Alber ist Honorarprofessor am Europa-Institut der Universität des Saarlandes.
